A 'view source' function

Posted by rdeburgh to Mail-Features, 29 Jul 10 at 17:38

One of the most useful functions of Hotmail (before its current incarnation) was the ability to right-click on an unopened email and view the source, ie who sent it. This made it so easy to see that eg the request from Amazon or your bank actually came from The Ukraine or China. I think this would be a great asset (and selling point) for GMX.

It's already there: Go to "Open E-Mail" and then click on "Extended Header". But you're right, it could be made easier to reach via a right click context menu entry.

Actually, it's not already there. The 'Extended Header' button is not available until one has already opened the email. What I wanted and suggested was the ability to check the source of an email BEFORE opening it, as a security measure.

I agree. Extended headers is not the same. What I want to see is the source of the entire mail, not just the headers. There is a difference between viewing the body of the mail in the normal window or viewing it's source.
