UK Date / Time Format

Posted by duffman to Settings, 4 Feb 09 at 16:43

The webmail application lacks an option to change the time and date settings into a UK format. I would like to see that changed.

I agree that showing dates in the American format is both annoying and confusing. The European format of dd/mm/yy is much clearer and something we are all used to. Please change this!

Proper date format should be year/month/day.

Don't want to be too critical, but this one is a feature, that should not be discussed/voted at all, I'm sure it is not very hard to be implemented, and it is still not moved to the "in development area" after a week... you got the message ;)

Perhaps a bit late in commenting on this, but I feel that it would be a good move, particularly in the UK. I must confess I do get confused with the American version, maybe I am too long in the tooth.

[Oops. Third try.]

I dunno rick, I'm American, but I'm getting the Euorpean format in here and in the forums. IMO, what GMX SHOULD do is allow the displaying of time and date based on the user's local time zone. For example, I live in the central time zone of the United States, therefore my current time and date (as of this post) would be 04:50 PM on August 02, 2009.

Wow, this has been under discussion for over a year?! I've only discovered gmx today and kinda assumed the problem with date format was just something that had been overlooked- even 10 year old mobile phones let you choose the format so I never dreamt it was something that would ever be an added extra in a webmail service that touts itself as 'advanced' and 'savvy'!

wormdazzler 22 Nov 10 at 11:38

At the moment, there is still no option to change the date format in GMX Mail. Despite requests, it has not been actioned. Not too clever from a company that keeps telling us how much progress it is making in other areas!

I am surprised this is still on the issues list!

wormdazzler 14 Jan 11 at 12:24

Still no action - what's the excuse? It can't be a complicated change to introduce the option to switch formats can it?

How hard can it be? We should be given the option on how we want our own email page to be laid out..

AAAAaargh! I'm writing this because I almost threw my teddies out of my pram on account of I CANNOT FIND THE EMAIL I SENT BECAUSE THE DATES ARE ALL BACK TO FRONT AND INSIDE OUT FOR ME! Since I have taken time out to find the ruddy thing I may as well write that this issue is driving me mad! Whenever my work demands that I must to act quickly, I have to get my head around this (to me) unnatural format for dates. Imagine that you have to run an olympic 100meters but then you find you're the only one wearing clown shoes filled with whipped cream!

Please fix this issue as soon as possible before I have to get myself admitted to the funny farm.

This is driving me crazy! Why is this still not fixed?
