GMX on mobile

Posted by tartanbunny to Settings, 22 May 09 at 03:20

I use my mobile to check my mail all the time, but GMX isn't very mobile friendly. Maybe create a light-wieght mobile version?

Can anybody tell me the outgoing and incoming mail servers for gmx?

gary.elliott 18 Jun 09 at 05:53

YES! YES! YES! I do access the gmx mail using the windows mobile email client. It works OK for most things but it is a copy of the msgs on the gmx site. So I have to manage the same email twice.

a java based mobile client will ensure that the masses will benefit !

jfb 24 Jun 09 at 14:25

Yes, it could be an app or a very light wap site.

seb.ward 24 Jun 09 at 23:44

Perhaps similar to the google application?

bradavon 29 Jun 09 at 16:54

This has already been suggested a few times but as this is the most popular one, I'll vote for it too:

SPPS 19 Jul 09 at 18:56

Agreed, a GMX Lite would solve similar issues I'm having trying to check my mail on the go.

dm.oswald 22 Jul 09 at 14:15

Works like a dream on i-Phone's. Can't see my mail collector email though.

thehasbro 27 Jul 09 at 20:46

davidcopeland 5 Aug 09 at 12:47

I would like to be able to access GMX on my Palm TX but something is not compatable

tia44 8 Aug 09 at 22:42

there should be a lighter version, of gmx, on the mobile, and to be more friendly and alot easier to use on the go,.

Max 11 Aug 09 at 07:05

GMX should have a simple light/mobile version. Its not possible to access this "very nice" but heavy desktop version from mobile devices :(
Please release a light/mobile version as soon as possible.

mindquake 18 Aug 09 at 10:17

A low bandwidth small screen version would be great.

hoverfly 19 Aug 09 at 16:47

*adding a vote for Java, Flash Lite or basically Symbian/Nokia*

I hope soon we can see GMX for mobile, i think is a powerful tool for all the people, it's the
best design and very kind with the user's

Ranezai 5 Sep 09 at 01:47

Is there really any mobile website like http://m.gmx.com??? I've tried http://m.gmx.de but it didn't work for me and I couldn't check my account via my HTC Touch. The creation of the very website version (http://m.gmx.com) I asked about would be a better thing for the users.

dreadded studd 8 Sep 09 at 19:01

I do think this would be a great idea to have gmx mobile. I would definately use it!

rob.b 17 Sep 09 at 23:11

Great idea, I am surprised its not, so much work has going into making this GR8 ! The mobility loss tho.... gotta stick with gmail , but I will use this at home.

alimo88@gmx.com 17 Oct 09 at 12:47

I agree. They should put an lite mobile version.

gntlmn 19 Oct 09 at 21:29

Noticing that this original comment was from 5 months ago - just became a gmx user yesterday - cannot click on any links from safari on my Iphone 3gs - is this fix in the works?

Deepan 20 Oct 09 at 17:10

lew 22 Oct 09 at 05:21

J2ME client would be great, otherwise a web-based very light UI. The biggest problems today are with authentication (privacy is still important, but it has to be easy and work) and more than anything else, the fact the the multipart emails are not multipart - you don't include text for 3rd-party light mail clients. The third area for improvement is of course making the site very light for graphics & scripts so it is quick on slower processor (portable) devices and when signal bandwidth is weak. This is a daily nuisance for me. Fingers crossed!

lew 3 Nov 09 at 17:23

Yes!!!! Please!!!!!

Two ways to achieve this: start sending GMX messages as 'text + HTML', or, allow WAP logins and a simplified interface for core functions. I would think the first would be easier, but it's been requested for so long, that I wonder if there is some unusual technical challenge?

Using BlackBerry, I can currently use LogicMail, which is beautiful, but only for sending messages or receiving subject lines, as it can only read the 'text' portion of messages, and GMX sends only the HTML part. This approach is nice when customers are billed heavily for web access, or when GMX is firewalled.

The other approach (WAP client or very light web client support) is good for when BlackBerry policies forbid installing other java applets, or when using a grossly underpowered internet cafe to stay connected.

I'm happy with either, but wantedto point out limitations that others may share.

shroomer 6 Nov 09 at 11:11

i wish to expand my bands shit hit me up if you can help

crminteriors@gmx.com 6 Nov 09 at 23:37

When i get an email, there is nothing in the read box. What happened? It was working fine one moment and now there is nothing in the read box....help, I need help quick......

davidhall@gmx.co.uk 11 Nov 09 at 12:14

Works well on my iPhone, and includes a folder for my "MailCollect" accounts. Push email would be a great feature though, like MobileMe and Yahoo.

w 15 Nov 09 at 17:59

gmx on blackberry, pls, accesible in separate email app than Corporate email client (like Gmail)

tackletart 17 Nov 09 at 16:34

Need to use GMX on my mobile, need a simple page that loads fast to just check emails quick

ahmahmahm 17 Nov 09 at 17:18

Don't fancy phones - which I don't have :) - come with an IMAP4 client these days? That's all you'd need to access GMX email.

ghodrat 24 Nov 09 at 15:16

can i send messages from my cell phone ? GMX support this service ?

jbelt@gmx.com 30 Nov 09 at 01:32

The IMAP client on my Sony Ericsson K550i works fine for accessing GMX

shorty 27 Dec 09 at 10:36

degz1 25 Jan 10 at 01:19

Plenty of votes for a mobile version none against .... It's a no brainer - pls sort it out soon ... thanks

amandeep.kohli@gmx.com 25 Jan 10 at 04:37

E-mail on the move.. wow.. great idea

Aaron.Donaldson@gmx.com 9 Feb 10 at 16:08

Works fine on my Blackberry !

mrsir2009 4 Mar 10 at 05:44

Yeah can you build a lightweight version that would work on almost any mobile internet browser. I'm on the latest $200 Black fliptop Samsung mobile phone, do you think it'd work on that? =D

hmeggy 13 Mar 10 at 13:33

awesome idea

NeiCluj 25 Mar 10 at 20:43

good idea

connect_sarath@gmx.com 26 Mar 10 at 13:32

GMX in mobile phones will be rocking .... and will be the best competitor to all other mail services.

jfb 2 Apr 10 at 16:17

The best thing to do would be to extend the wap access they get in Germany (m.gmx.de) to the whole community at gmx.com.

svinoth 27 Nov 10 at 04:51

But GMX already providing POP and IMAP access.... Check GMX forum for settings!

aderowswell 8 Dec 10 at 11:20

I agree!!! GMX is fantastic on desktop, but I want to use it on my mobile also (not just PUSH mail). A mobile friendly light version would be a most welcome addition to a great service!

javi 14 Dec 10 at 16:13

Yesss I need a light version for mobile devices, Ipad, Phones. etc....

Please a light version!!!!

OParada 23 Mar 11 at 21:37

Even though I've already gotten use to checking my e-mail by setting up my pop mail account on my Droid Incredible...I would love to see some kind of mobile Droid App that could make checking my e-mail more fun. I'll vote on this too!!!!

swizz69 15 May 11 at 15:05

Echoing JFB's comment regarding Germanys WAP site - m.gmx.de

It looks tidy enough, but we can't log in to see the Mail interface unfortunately.

This would be easy enough to access as a site, or packaged as a standalone App for different smartphones.

I'm waiting for an Android handset to arrive in the next few weeks, but have tried the regular GMX site on an iPhone 4 - it worked in a fashion so a lighter wap site should be more than quick enough.

C'mon GMX - make us really happy!
