Next Gen, 36, had to dig deep within himself to move down to the middleweight limit of 160 pounds in order to face The Destroyer, 29, in April, and Simply the Best, 59, has now admitted he is concerned Eubank Jr. will suffer dire consequences for his dramatic weight loss.
Speaking on SunSport’s No Glove Lost YouTube show, Eubank Sr. said: “I look back and calculate. The damage Jr. suffered will show up in three to four years.
“My question is, what’s the cost? What is the cost to the individuals doing it? That’s what we are dealing with, this is no game.
“Jr. coming down to 160lb, at 36, is madness. But we have said this, to lose weight, that’s where the damage happens. When you get dehydrated.
“For three years I was saying that this fight shouldn’t be happening because the weights are wrong.
“I’m not going to go bleating on the same subject – you will see, there will be consequences. Dehydration is dangerous.”
Eubank Jr. is looking to claim victory over Benn once again in their second bout on November 15 at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Next Gen said he would be more “vicious” against The Destroyer in the ring.
In a face-off with Benn for DAZN, Eubank Jr. said: “I guess I have to be more vicious, more ferocious, and even more steadfast in my ability and my mindset.
“My mindset going into that fight was it doesn't matter what this kid does, it doesn't matter what he may or may not be capable of, I am not going to stop until I am pulled off this guy.
“That was my mentality. It will be the same on November 15 ... When the bell goes and fists start flying, I think he will revert back to what he is, which is an emotional kid who gets caught up in the moment and will make those mistakes.”
Eubank Jr hopes that a second win against Benn can provide him with a platform to challenge for world title belts.
He said: “Boxing is a very political sport.
“Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you work. I've been interim world champion before and still not gotten those title shots. At the end of the day, I'm a fighter. I want to fight.
“I want the big fights that the fans want. I'm blessed to be in a position where I don't have to fight for world titles to be in the big fights.
“After I dispatch this kid again, for sure we'll look at world titles.”
