Fabio Wardley could get ‘miraculous’ knockout victory over Oleksandr Usyk, Soloman Dacres says

Soloman Dacres thinks Fabio Wardley could knock out Oleksandr Usyk.

The Barista, 30, became the mandatory challenger for the undisputed heavyweight champion’s, 38, WBO belt after defeating Joseph Parker, 33, last month, and The Real Deal, 32, has now stressed Wardley could pose a real threat to The Cat.

Speaking with Sky Sports about Wardley potentially knocking out Usyk, Dacres said: “No one's done it to Usyk, none of the unified champions, he's done it back to back against these champions, you can't ever go against him.

“If it did happen it would be something miraculous. And, you know what, it could happen. Never say never. Never say never, honestly.

“You can't doubt anyone, especially in heavyweight boxing. You never know what's going to happen.”

In his last three fights, The Barista claimed victories over Frazer Clarke, 34, Justis Huni, 26, and Parker via knockout or technical knockout.

Given his win over Lupesoliai La’auliolemalietoa, Dacres has insisted Usyk will need to take Wardley seriously.

He said: “I thought Joe Parker would dominate and finish the job. That's what I thought going in. I rated Joe Parker, it's only right that I've got to give Fabio Wardley the ratings because he has beaten him.

“He is a dangerous opponent, that you can never be too comfortable in there against.”

Reflecting on Wardley’s journey from a white-collar boxer to a world champion, The Real Deal said The Barista’s growth was an inspiration for his own career.

He said: “From his background, white-collar fighting, at 20 years old or 21 years old he picked it up and getting to where he is now, beating people like Joe Parker, a former world champion, he's beat Olympians.

“He's beat guys with extensive amateur pedigree. If he can do that, then I'm just saying the sky is only the limit for me.

“It does make you believe in yourself.”

Following his victory over Parker, Wardley’s promoter Frank Warren said they were working with Usyk’s side for a clash, potentially in March 2026.

The Queensbury promoter said: “The fight [between Usyk and Wardley] has been ordered, so there will be a period of negotiations now.

“And if we can’t reach an agreement, then it will go out for purse bids. I believe we will reach an agreement.

“The fight won’t be until next year, of course. I think it will be sometime in March.

“I’d love it to be in the UK, but there are only two places for this fight, and that’s either in Riyadh or here in London, that’s it. I’d do it at Wembley Stadium and it would be a sell-out.

“You know what you’re getting with Usyk, and you know what you’re getting with Fabio; it’s going to be exciting.”
