Roberts reaping benefit of Oxford spell

The 17-year-old is on loan with the U's until January and he's made 10 first-team appearances for them so far as he looks to make an impact lower down the football pyramid.

Much of his action for Oxford has come as a substitute so far but the youngster says he has learned so much from being out loan.

"I advise any young player to get out as soon as they can because the experiences you have and the things you learn is more than you would think," he said.

"You have to be on it every single day, there can't be a day when you think I'm just going to take it easy. If you're not on it you might miss an opportunity to get into the team."

Roberts made his first-team debut for the Baggies on the final day of last season against Liverpool but he's had to take a step back so far this season as he continues to develop.

Roberts added: "I'm still young so being out there and learning, training with first team players all the time, is great experience."
