The 30-year-old was named man of the match after his brace helped Wales seal a memorable win over the Springboks in Cardiff on Saturday.
Parkes' Test debut could hardly have gone any better and he admitted he was blown away by the whole occasion.
"It was a dream come true and a pretty amazing day," the Scarlets man told the Welsh Rugby Union official website.
"I never thought this day would come and I'm just extremely humbled by the opportunity.
"It's a huge privilege and an honour to come out here and play at a fantastic stadium and in front of a fantastic crowd. You dream of these kind of days and I'm very happy."
New Zealand-born Parkes was only eligible for the game after finally meeting the criteria to be able to play for Wales on Saturday and now hopes to become a regular with a place in the squad for the Six Nations in 2018 his next international target.
