Roberts admits to Japan lure

The Wales international, who has been on two British and Irish Lions tours, is in the final year of his contract with the Aviva Premiership outfit and there are doubts as to whether he will sign an extension.

Roberts has been linked with a move away from the Twickenham Stoop and Japan, which is the venue for the 2019 World Cup, has been touted as a potential destination.

New Zealand legend Dan Carter recently penned a deal with the Kobelco Steelers for next season and he could be joined at the Asian club by the Quins' 31-year-old centre.

Roberts told the Mail on Sunday: "Japan is certainly an option to explore and we'll see what comes of it. I definitely wouldn't rule it out. You've got to make your decisions for the right reasons and I'll make a decision over the next month or six weeks.

"I'd like to think I can play at the top level for a few years yet."
