Users of the Google Search app on Android devices who typed "the1975..com" saw their recent text messages showing in the search results. Typing "vizela viagens" also produced the same result.
A representative for Google told CNet.com: "We are aware of a language detection bug in the Google Search app for Android which erroneously interpreted certain phrases as a request to view recent text messages. A fix for this bug has been implemented and will roll out over the next few days."
A Reddit user discovered the glitch when using the search bar on the default Google Pixel launcher. Users of android devices made by OnePlus, Samsung, LG and Huawei reported experiencing the glitch.
Google users can ask the app to show a summary of their text messages by typing "show me my text messages" in the search bar, provided they have given the app permission to access messages.
