Microsoft launching UK AI Academy

Microsoft are launching an AI Academy to teach digital skills to people in the UK.

The tech giant plan to train around 500,000 people on how they can use artificial intelligence correctly in order to have a positive impact on society.

Cindy Rose, Chief Executive of Microsoft UK, commented: "How society, business and people adapt to AI will become one of the most pressing considerations of this generation and the next.

"Only by applying AI in the right way can we unlock its extraordinary potential for good."

Cindy made the announcement at the Future Decoded conference in London on Wednesday morning (31.10.18), as they published their new report, 'Maximising the AI Opportunity', which predicts that many businesses in the UK could lose out if they don't take on board the benefits of AI.

Microsoft, Goldsmiths, University of London and YouGov surveyed 1,000 business leaders and 4,000 employees as part of their research.

Cindy concluded by pointing out that AI "could add up to £230bn to our economy" and will be "critical to future prosperity of UK."

More details on the AI Academy's programme will be announced in the coming months.
