James Maddison not interested in Tottenham's Premier League title race role

James Maddison isn't concerned about Tottenham's role as kingmakers in the Premier League title race.

Spurs may have a huge say in who claims the crown as they still have to play contenders Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City before the end of the campaign but the playmaker says that the team will prioritise their own ambition of Champions League qualification.

Maddison said: "I am excited. You want to be involved in the big games and the big moments. It just happens to be that all those three teams at the top we have still got to play. It will be interesting but we have got a job to do.

"People keep asking me about what sort of say we are going to have in the title race. We are not looking at it like that, we have got a job to do.

"We would never look at what we can do for other teams, we want to finish as high as we can. To do that, we might have to beat some of the teams who are in for the title."

Issues at the top, bottom and in terms of European qualification will be resolved in the final weeks of the season and Maddison is anticipating a "brilliant" ending.

The England international said: "The Premier League has been brilliant. It has been chaos this year with the three-way title race, the relegation battle, the points deductions, the race for the Champions League. It is set to be a good finale for everyone involved."
