Jude Bellingham fulfills dream as Real Madrid reach Champions League final

Jude Bellingham "dreamed" of reaching the Champions League final when he joined Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants pulled off a thrilling late comeback to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 (4-3 on aggregate) in Wednesday's (08.05.24) semi-final second leg and the midfielder explained that he joined Madrid to represent the club at the pinnacle of European football.

Asked if he was nervous on the pitch, Bellingham told TNT Sports: "Not really. I really would want to say that I do but in the changing room I was looking around and I just thought I couldn’t be in a better position with better people. Where else would I rather be?

"I was seven at Birmingham dreaming of nights like this. To then get here and want to be somewhere else doesn’t make any sense to me, so I’m just so happy to be a part of tonight."

Madrid will take on the England international's former side Borussia Dortmund in the Wembley final on June 1 and Bellingham can't wait to sample the "atmosphere" at the showpiece.

He said: "At Wembley against Dortmund, it’s a weird one, I can’t believe it. I’m so looking forward to the atmosphere, the game itself."

Two late goals from substitute striker Joselu sent Madrid to the final and Bellingham felt that the late revival showcased the never-say-die attitude that runs through the club.

He said: "We’ve seen it a lot of times this season where it looks like we’re dead and buried. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals but someone always manages it. That mentality of never say die and Joselu, I don’t think he’ll be sleeping much tonight.

"He deserves it all, he’s been an amazing member of the squad throughout the whole season. This is his night."
