Erling Haaland: Man City must relax in title bid

Erling Haaland has told his Manchester City teammates to "relax" as they attempt to win the Premier League title.

City moved to the brink of a historic fourth successive league title with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Tuesday (14.05.24) and Haaland has urged the team not to stress as they bid to seal the deal against West Ham at the weekend.

The striker told City+: "Fantastic mentality. Focus on game by game and now relax.

"We came here to try to win and we won.

"Focus on the next game and try not to think too much. Let’s get all together and finish this."

City showed their quality after a nervy first period and Haaland explained that winning was the only thing that mattered in such an important game.

He said: "It was really difficult, but yeah, we came here to try and win and we won. That’s my only thing and I’m happy.

"I think we were a bit nervous. I think that’s normal, there’s a lot of emotions for everyone.

"Everyone knows the situation, but it’s about not thinking too much. Try to focus on your things to do and try to win."

City coach Pep Guardiola knows that his team haven't finished the job yet and compared his team's situation to a tennis player "serving for Wimbledon" as they head into the final day of the campaign.

He told BBC Sport: "The tennis players say, 'The serve to win Wimbledon', the last game, is the most difficult one.

"We know what we're playing for. The tension is there."
