Dillian Whyte is comfortable as the underdog against Moses Itauma

Dillian Whyte has "nothing to lose" in his fight against Moses Itauma.

The veteran British heavyweight takes on his much-hyped young compatriot in Saudi Arabia on Saturday (16.08.25) and knows that many observers are counting him out before the bout.

Whyte said: "It's good to be back. Obviously I'm up against it, everyone's writing me off. It's good. It's a good place to be. I've got nothing to lose. It's good to be in this position. Normally, I'm in the underdog position, but I've got nothing to lose."

The heavyweight was beaten by Tyson Fury when he fought for the WBC title in 2022 but remains determined to get another shot at the belts and avenge his defeats to both the Gypsy King and Anthony Joshua.

Whyte said: "I'd love to avenge my two defeats. I'd love to fight for the world title again. I don't think I did myself justice last time."

The pugilist believes that his experience will prove useful against Itauma as he has lived through big boxing occasions that are "new" to his opponent.

Whyte said: "A lot of its new to him. I've been here so many times."

The boxer is determined to take advantage of his rival's "blissful ignorance", even though Itauma has been tipped to take on undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk.

He told The Independent: "Today, he’s the next Mike Tyson, he’s amazing, they’re talking about him fighting [Oleksandr] Usyk.

"If I go in there and blow Moses out in one round, what are people gonna say? He’s not good anymore? That’s what the media will say. ‘Moses Itauma was overhyped.’ No, that doesn’t mean that; it just means he fought a good fighter and got caught.

"He hasn’t been tested, hasn’t been hurt, everything’s going great in his career. He’s got that blissful ignorance. But [my] experience doesn’t really matter unless I make it matter."
