The 23-year-old light-welterweight first met his head coach and mentor as a teenager and credits him for making him better both in and out of the ring.
He told Boxing News magazine: “Being with Shane, I’ve not just developed inside the ring but also outside of it, as a person.
“When I speak to Shane, I sometimes have [personal] issues going on and he’ll tell me exactly what I have to do.
“And I’m a very confident fighter anyway, but when Shane tells me that I’m looking amazing in sparring, it just gives me a confidence boost.”
Adam got married to Dúaa Karim over the summer and admitted it is hard being away from her when he has to prepare for a fight.
He said: “We had the wedding in July and the hardest par tin camp is not getting to see my wife, but I’m happily married and it’s a big responsibility.
“She lives in Cambridge and is an actress, so she’s in a good career herself.
“We’re both driving in our careers and wanting to develop.
“My focus is still on boxing but, whenever I do see her, I feel this sense of relief and happiness.”
