Jake Paul eyeing Tommy Fury rematch following Anthony Joshua defeat

Jake Paul is targeting a rematch with Tommy Fury as he plots his next move after a bruising stoppage loss to Anthony Joshua.

The 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer was halted in the sixth round by the former heavyweight world champion, 36, in Miami, Florida - suffering a broken jaw in two places - but his team has insisted the defeat has not dulled his ambition.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, The Problem Child’s promoter and Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said the loss Paul still wants to avenge is his points defeat to TNT, 26, in February 2023.

Even so, Bidarian admitted he didin’t want to set up a fight with Fury again, calling TNT “unreliable” - but insisted he would work to give Paul the opponents he wants.

In his fight with AJ, The Problem Child was stopped after being worn down by the Briton’s size and power.

Bidarian, however, pointed to positives from the night.

He said: “Every single MVP fighter won on the card other than Jake, but in my mind, Jake won in many other ways as well by showing his heart, his courage, and actually outboxing, from my perspective, Anthony Joshua in round one and round four.”

Unlike the Joshua bout, a potential rematch with Fury would come against an opponent closer in size and weight, a dynamic that continues to shape Paul’s thinking.

Fury remains the only man to beat Paul at cruiserweight, handing him his first professional defeat.

In the aftermath of his fight with Joshua, Paul revealed he had undergone surgery to repair his jaw, with two titanium plates inserted on either side.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support. 2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed. Have to have only liquids for 7 days.”

Paul later confirmed he plans to return to cruiserweight once fully recovered, distancing himself from further heavyweight experiments for now.

He said: “Great experience. I love this sport. Time to rest, recover and return to cruiserweight. Who do you want to see me fight?”

Speaking immediately after the bout, Paul accepted the outcome and the physical toll.

He said: “Anthony is a great fighter, I got my a** beat. But I’ll come back and keep winning. I just got tired, so much handling his weight. With better cardio, I could’ve kept fighting.”
