Harry Kane: England need to calm down after Mexico win

Harry Kane stressed that England must "calm down" after their memorable World Cup win over Mexico.

The Three Lions earned a thrilling 3-2 victory in Sunday's (05.07.26) last 16 tie against the co-hosts at the Azteca Stadium - despite playing most of the second half with 10 men following Jarell Quansah's red card - and the captain says the team needs to recover both physically and mentally before this weekend's quarter-final clash against Norway in Miami.

Kane said in a social media video: "Into the next round. Incredible night, we appreciate the support, I know we had loads in the stadium and loads watching back home staying up late.

"The connection with everyone is even stronger now and we feel that more than ever.

"We recover now, we calm down, we have a couple of days relaxing and then obviously get prepared for a massive quarter-final."

Kane converted a second-half penalty to help England progress and says the battling nature of the victory made it one of the most memorable games of his international career.

The Bayern Munich player said: "Going into that game was so special, the atmosphere, the stadium... Everyone was so excited to be there and play in this iconic game.

"To come through the adversities in the game and battle through the way we did and put our bodies on the line and the boys covering every blade of grass was just incredible to be part of, to be honest.

"It's one of my favourite games in an England shirt, without a doubt.

"Full credit to all the boys, so proud of everyone, all the staff, everyone involved.

"We knew the test we were going into, we knew how tough it would be and we came out on top."

Kane also joked that his "voice was back" after speaking in hoarse tones when being interviewed by the BBC following the game.

He said: "As you can hear, my voice is back.

"I mean, what an all-timer of an interview last night, that was. Glad to see everyone having a good laugh about it, all over social media.

"But yeah, it was the perfect interview to end a perfect night."
