Charlie Adam extends Stoke stay

Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam has taken to social media to confirm he has been handed a one-year contract extension.

The 31-year-old joined the Potters from Liverpool in August 2012 and has gone on to make 151 appearances in all competitions.

Adam was not a regular starter in 2016-17 and reports suggested he could move on this summer but Mark Hughes is keen to keep the experienced midfielder around.

The Scot revealed the news on his official Twitter feed, writing: "Delighted to announce that I have extended my contract with Stoke for a further year."

The former Blackpool man has yet to feature in the Premier League this season but he did start during the midweek 4-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Rochdale.
