No loan deal for City youngster

Manchester City are said to have decided against allowing young midfielder Phil Foden to move to a rival on loan next season.

Instead of him going out on loan, City want the England Under-19 international, who celebrated his 18th birthday on Monday, to work under boss Pep Guardiola and continue his improvement at City.

Foden is in talks over a long-term contract at the club, possibly tying him down until 2023, but he has been linked with a loan move and West Ham are said to be one of the clubs who were looking to take him next season.

City have decided against a loan move and Foden, who made 10 appearances under Guardiola in 2017-18 earning a Premier League winner's medal along the way, will stay at the Etihad.
