New Prince of Persia game set for release ‘later this year’

A new ‘Prince of Persia’ game is set to launch “later this year”.

According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Ubisoft - the studio behind the beloved action-adventure franchise - is planning to launch ‘The Rogue Prince of Persia’ in Early Access on Steam, the first day-one release from the company since 2019.

‘Dead Cells’ co-developer Evil Empire is said to be helming the upcoming title, which is reportedly going to be a “Roguelite” game - meaning players can strengthen their characters through meta progression upgrades.

Tom’s sources told him the title - which has reportedly been in development for roughly four years - would receive “constant free updates and evolve over time based on community feedback” after it’s release.

Previously, Ubisoft announced a remake of ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ was in the works in 2020.

Unfortunately, the title has been suffered multiple delays, and the company’s last update from November 2023 revealed the project had passed “an important internal milestone”.

Taking to X, the official ‘Prince of Persia’ account wrote: “As you know, the passionate team at @UbisoftMTL is reimagining this legendary story, and we are glad to announce today that the project has passed an important internal milestone and development is progressing.

“We look forward to sharing more in the future!”
