Street Fighter 6 sells over 5 million copies

Street Fighter 6 has sold more than five million copies - just two years after its release.

The fighting video game - which first dropped on PS4 and PS5 in June 2023, before being released on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5 this year - has celebrated its second anniversary by revealing the huge sales figures.

A message on Street Fighter's official X account read: "Street Fighter 6 has now sold over 5 million copies! What a way to celebrate our 2nd anniversary!"

Capcom, which developed the game, thanked all the Street Fighter 6 fans for making the impressive sales figure possible, and they also thanked any "prospective fans" of the game.

The message added: "Thanks to all our fans out there around the world and to all the prospective fans in the future!"

This comes after Street Fighter 6 celebrated its second anniversary earlier this month by kicking off another round of its popular New Challenger art contest.

Street Fighter 6 bosses said in a statement: "Street Fighter 6 is celebrating its second anniversary!

We'd like to offer our continued sincere thanks to everyone who's played the game, as well as those who participated in or watched our e-sports events.

"To show our appreciation for the community and celebrate the game's second anniversary, the Street Fighter 6 development team is kicking off another round of the popular New Challenger art contest!"

Successful pieces for each of the 26 characters will be chosen, and then implemented into the game "as actual Challenger screens".

The statement added: "For this second contest, one piece of art will be selected for each character (for a total of 26 characters, up to Elena) out of all the submissions we receive. These pieces will be implemented as actual Challenger screens in the game and made available as a gift to all players!

What's more, the winning entries will be featured in the Battle Hub, alongside an event where players can vote for their favorites.

"Both prize-winners and everyone who participates in the Battle Hub event will receive special player titles as well, so we encourage everyone to submit their art and vote for their favorites! (sic)"
