Nothing unveils Ear (3) with ‘Super Mic’ and a new price tag

Nothing has officially revealed its newest earbuds, the Ear (3).

The headhpones - which are due to release on 25 September 2025 - introduce a headline feature called Super Mic and a price increase to US$179 - $30 more than the previous model.

The Ear (3) retain the signature transparent-stem design Nothing has become known for, but the charging case gets two major upgrades, those being a Talk button and a built-in microphone dubbed the ‘Super Mic’.

When users press the Talk button, the case is expected to act as a directional mic for voice calls, improving clarity by picking up the speaker’s voice and relaying it to the earbuds via Bluetooth.

The case is also now made with 100 per cent anodised recycled aluminium, which Nothing says gives it a more premium, durable look and feel compared to earlier models.

Other refinements include a slimmed down metal antenna and tighter internal layout to reduce component gaps.

Beyond design, the new earbuds offer improved sound staging and deeper bass.

Battery life is slightly improved when noise cancellation is enabled - though exact endurance numbers haven’t yet been confirmed.

Nothing has also added higher fidelity Bluetooth playback for Android users and gesture-based interactions - like a double pinch - to access ChatGPT or the company’s own AI features when used with Nothing smartphones.

While the Super Mic and Talk button hint at a clever new direction for how charging cases could be used - perhaps even for voice-assisted calls or remote mic use - some consumers may find holding the case to their mouth unusual.

But Nothing seems confident these features will raise the bar. The design and feature set suggest the Ear (3) are more than incremental upgrades.
