The social media platform has started to roll out a new version of its app for Android users, promising a "faster, smoother, and more reliable" experience.

In a post on X Engineering account, they teased: "We've completely rebuild the Android X app from the ground up.

"It's faster, smoother, and more reliable than the old version in every way.

"We modernized the foundation so everything just feels better: scrolling, loading, notifications, you name it."

Nikita Bier, head of product at X, added: "Today we're announcing the completion of one of the largest engineering projects in the company's history:

"We rebuilt the X Android app from scratch.

"It's faster, smoother and more reliable. But most of all: it will enable us to build new features at lightning speed."

He also replied to the original post from Engineering to highlight the people who "worked day and night" on the project.

Tagging several staff in the post, he wrote: "This was a massive undertaking that took well over a year. Special thanks to the incredible engineers who worked day and night to make it happen."

However, Nikita also warned that not everything will be 100 percent just yet.

He added: "There are still some rough edges. We're hustling quickly to get features out like hosting Spaces and improve performance on older devices.

"If you have any feedback, feel free to let us know about any bugs you catch."
