Zlatan Ibrahimovic: I'm like Benjamin Button

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed he is "like Benjamin Button".

The legendary Swedish striker netted twice for AC Milan in their 4-1 Serie A victory over Sampdoria on Wednesday (30.07.20) and said he has "always been young".

The 38-year-old striker, who rejoined Milan in January, told the club's TV channel: "I'm like Benjamin Button. I've always been young, never old."

Zlatan has scored nine goals in his second spell at the Italian club and referenced the character played by Brad Pitt - who ages in reverse.

Milan have been in strong form since the Serie A season resumed following the coronavirus pandemic and are guaranteed a place in Europe next term.

The impressive run has seen coach Stefano Pioli handed a new contract and his work has impressed Ibrahimovic.

He said: "I can say only positive things, I'm happy for him because he did a great job.

"He worked under pressure without knowing the future. He did a great job and the renewal is deserved. When you work hard, you always get something back.

"I'm happy for him. He deserved this - it was not an easy situation. The team believes in him a lot and I respect him."

Pioli also credited Ibrahimovic for helping the team improve in recent months.

He commented: "It's obvious that Ibra has been very important for our improvement, although it wasn't just his arrival, it was also the work we did in the previous months.

"[Ibrahimovic] tells me that he feels good, that he's happy, and he proves it with the work he does every day."
