The PSG forward has been left out of Argentina's squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers and expressed his dismay at the lack of recognition for helping his club reach the Champions League final.
Di Maria said: "I can't find an explanation, I have no words. Argentina's national team is the most important for me.
"If I work my a** off at PSG it is to have a chance in the national team and be able to compete. It's difficult to understand that being in a good moment I am not called.
"If I'm not called it's because they don't want to call me. I'll keep fighting to be in Argentina's national team."
The 32-year-old winger also dismissed suggestions that he is too old to be playing for his country as he plays in a team with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe and is competing at their level.
He said: "Am I old at 32? Many people say that I am already old, but I am 32 and I keep running in the same way, in every game I show that I'm not old, and I can be at the level of Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe."
Di Maria also revealed that he messaged Lionel Messi about moving to PSG when he revealed that he wished to leave Barcelona, before deciding to stay at the Spanish giants.
He told Radio Continental: 'The first thing I sent to Messi when I found out he didn't want to continue at Barcelona was an Instagram message where I told him how PSG could play with Messi."
