The 36-year-old boxer has previously spoken candidly about the struggles that plagued him during a 19-month break from the sport and while he’s feeling “great” now, he’s learned to take it one day at a time when it comes to getting his “mind right”.
He told Boxing News magazine: “I feel good. I feel great.
“A lot of people know boxing is physical, but it’s more mental.
“You could be in the best [physical] shape of your life but if your mind is not all the way there, you’re not going to be sharp.
“I think the most important thing is having your mind right.
“I learned how to control my brain and control my thoughts.
“And I’m an over-thinker, that’s my problem.
“I just think too much. I’m always thinking, I’m always thinking, I’m always thinking.
“I just got to worry about what’s in front of my face. That’s kind of how I look at it now.
“I just try to take one day at a time and, when the moment comes, be ready.”
Danny’s father and trainer Angel is back by his side after suffering a stroke earlier this year and the fighter hailed his dad as his “secret weapon”.
He said:” Angel has always been my motivation. He’s just a battery in my back.
“Without him, I probably wouldn’t even be here now. Angel is like my secret weapon, you know, spiritual weapon and someone in my corner that I can really trust.
“He’s doing good, staying positive and he’s excited for the moment.”
