Golfing superstar Charley Hull explains why she doesn't watch men's golf

Charley Hull doesn’t watch men’s golf.

The 29-year-old golfer admitted she doesn’t pay much attention to the male game because she no longer finds it interesting.

She admitted to bunkered magazine: “To tell the truth, I don’t actually watch much men’s golf.

“I mean, I did maybe 10 or 15 years ago when it was interesting but now, I don’t think it’s anywhere near as interesting so I don’t bother watching.”

But Charley admitted she feels sorry for male golfers having to stick to long trousers no matter how hot it is on the course.

Asked about the taboo around wearing shorts on tour, she said: “It’s different for us girls as, obviously, we can wear skirts and stuff, but I really feel for the men when it’s like 100 degrees and they’re still having to wear trousers.

“I don’t see the point in that. It doesn’t seem like common sense to me.

“But yeah, luckily, it’s not my problem.”

Charley also hit out at the criticism of jeans being worn in the clubhouse.

She said: “If they’re smart jeans, I don’t see the problem with it.

“I don’t understand why anybody would object to that.

“It’s really not the sort of thing to get offended by and aren’t we trying to make the game more appealing anyway?

“I would maybe draw the line at wearing them on the golf course, but only because I don’t think jeans help you play your best golf.

“You wouldn’t go for a run on the track wearing denims so you probably shouldn’t wear them to play golf.

“But it in the clubhouse, yeah, I don’t see why not.”
