Dynamite, 28, is in talks share the ring with The Cuban Flash, 33, with the winner set to become the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk’s, 38, IBF heavyweight championship, Sky Sports has said.
Efe Ajagba, 31, had rejected the opportunity to fight Sanchez again after he was defeated in 2021, as had Richard Torrez Jr., 26, and Moses Itauma, 20, allowing Dubois to enter talks.
Negotations between Dubois and Sanchez are now in effect, and both sides must reach an agreement by October 22 if the fight if to go ahead.
Dubois was crowned IBF champion after Usyk vacated the title in June 2024 and delivered a dominant first defence, stopping Anthony Joshua, 35, in the fifth round at London's Wembley Stadium that September.
However, Dynamite was defeated by Usyk for the second time in July, making The Cat a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.
After being knocked out by Usyk in the fifth round, Dubois praised his opponent, though vowed he’d be back.
He said in a statement: “I have to commend him on his performance. I gave everything I had, probably a few things I could have sharpened up on, but take no credit away from the man. I was just fighting, I was in a fight and trying to pick up round by round.
“It is what it is, but I'll be back. I want to thank everyone for coming out. I gave my best, we'll go back to the drawing board and come again.”
Usyk later explained the blow that ended Dynamite was not a left hook, but rather a punch he and his team call ‘Ivan’.
He said: “Listen, we prepare for this fight with my team. We learn from first fight, we have a long time, two years, and we prepare a combination. You know the punch name Ivan.
“Left hook? A hook is like this [gesture], that is Ivan. It is Ukrainian name. Ivan is you know a big guy, who lives in a village, he is Kozak, you say, ‘What is your name?’ And he says, ‘My name is Ivan.’
“Yeah, it is a hard, hard punch, Ivan. It is a long time. Maybe first time is 2018? Yeah, first time. It was USA in cruiserweight.
“Now I want to go back home, now I want to do a choice over what next. I will continue in boxing, I will continue in training, but now I cannot say who next.”
