The 60-year-old was sacked as The Reds’ manager following Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday (18.10.25) - having only served as the club's head coach for 39 days - and Agbonlahor, 39, thinks Postecoglou’s time as a manager is over.
Speaking with talkSPORT about whether Postecoglou’s Premier League career was over, the former Aston Villa star said: “Yeah, Ange is 100 per cent done.
“Everyone would have been shocked that he actually got the Forest job after what happened at Spurs in the Premier League, and to get the sack after five Premier League games, shortest managerial run in Premier League history.
“I think if Ange gets a job he will be abroad, maybe an international team. But I'm sure his family and his young kids are still in Australia, he can go back home now, enjoy some family time, because the stress of his last two jobs can't be good for him.”
Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, 51, as Nottingham Forest’s manager in September, though lost every one of the eight matches - leaving The Reds in 18th place.
His sacking after just 39 days makes Postecoglou’s stint at Nottingham Forest the shortest tenure of any permenant manager in the Premier League.
When asked whether he thought Postecoglou was a good coach, Agbonlahor said: “I don't think so.
“Listen, he did great things at Celtic, fantastic winning the Europa League at Spurs, but 22 Premier League defeats, eight without a win before he got sacked at Nottingham Forest.
“It doesn't look right - the change of formation. Didn't name the same team twice in eight games, which is wild.”
Before managing Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou headed up Tottenham Hotspur - sercuring the London club their first silverware in 17 years with the Europa League’s UEFA Cup.
However, Postecoglou was let go just 16 days after Spurs’ win against Manchester United in the Europa League due to the club’s poor performance in the Premier League - finishing in 17th place and losing a total of 22 games last season.
