Marc Guehi has withdrawn from the England squad three days before the World Cup qualifier against Albania due to injury.

The defender, 25, was left out of the match day squad for England’s win over Serbia on Thursday (13.11.25) and has now departed the national team camp.

England Football confirmed his withdrawal in a statement, saying: “Crystal Palace‘s Marc Guéhi has left the England camp and will not travel to Albania for Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

“The defender joined up with the Three Lions at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground earlier this week but has returned to his club to continue his rehabilitation. Thomas Tuchel will prepare for the trip to Tirana with a squad of 24.”

Guehi will now continue his recovery at Crystal Palace ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture against Wolves.

The defender had also missed Palace’s most recent league match, a goalless draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, after being ruled out with an ankle injury.

England manager Thomas Tuchel said earlier this week Guehi had been dealing with significant discomfort.

He said: “With Marc it is very painful but there is no structural damage so it is all about the pain. There is the possibility that from one day to the other there is a significant improvement so we are working realistically towards the second game.” Tuchel added: “If he is not in training on Friday and not able to train on Saturday then we will not make him travel with us and he will of course get rest and treatment.”

Tuchel also emphasised Guehi’s influence within the squad.

He said: “We want him to stay with us, want him to stay close. He is one of the leaders, he is an important member of the team. He is glue between many players and it is nice to see that he is trying everything to be included in the second game. We will assess him every day.”

Guehi’s absence leaves England with 24 players available for Sunday’s qualifier, with the defender returning to his club for treatment as Palace prepare for their next league outing.
