Eddie Hearn pulls Love Actually cards stunt during press conference for this weekend’s rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn

Eddie Hearn, stunned reporters by refusing to speak during a press conference for this weekend’s rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn – instead communicating through a set of cue cards held up to the room.

The promoter’s silent stunt unfolded as Silent Night played over the speakers, forming the backdrop to the latest promotional event ahead of Saturday’s (15.11.25) fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Hearn’s decision came after months of verbal interruptions from Eubank during earlier promotional appearances.

Eubank immediately reacted to the sight of the cards, saying: “He’s actually brought cue cards with him, this is embarrassing.”

Hearn’s cards read: “Good evening all! I know it upsets Chris when I speak. So I’ve taken a new approach. Last April we witnessed a British classic. Both men gave us a fight we will never forget. But for now let me just say… just because it’s fight week (and we always tell the truth) to me, Conor Benn is perfect. He’s ready for the performance of his career. So, get ready for another epic war.”

The exchange referenced an earlier incident this year when Eubank repeatedly cut across Hearn during a press event, saying he found the promoter’s voice irritating.

During Thursday’s (13.11.25) scene, Eubank continued to comment over the music and cards, saying: “Wow he’s finally learned. He’s finally learned guys that he cannot speak during the press conference. What a beautiful thing it is that I don’t have to interrupt this guy.”

Speaking afterwards, Hearn explained the origins of the stunt.

He said: “It was perfect, it was so perfect. I’ll be honest with you, someone sent me a DM today on Instagram, randomly, I don’t know who he is, and said, Wwhy don’t you do the Love Actually scene with silent night?’

“And we watched the clip in the movie, and I thought, ‘Oh!’

“We actually did it about 45 minutes ago, we got these all printed, and it was so good to take the narrative away from him.”

Eubank also used the press conference to address claims made by Team Benn regarding his father, Nigel Benn and Eubank’s father.

He said: “All jokes aside there is one thing I must address first. Conor Benn, Nigel Benn and Eddie Hearn claimed my dad was paid to come to the first fight and that’s not true and anyone with a brain would know that.

“It’s also disrespectful to the Saudis to suggest that they would do that. So these men need to stop lying to the public.”

The rematch follows Eubank’s unanimous-decision victory over Benn in April.
