Tyson Fury could face Brandon Moore in boxing comeback fight

Tyson Fury has been offered a potential comeback fight against American heavyweight Brandon Moore as he steps up preparations for a return to the ring this year.

The Gypsy King, 37, could face OJ Bam, 31, in his first clash since he first retired after losing to Oleksandr Usyk, 38, in December 2024, and Moore’s promoter Dmitriy Salita has outlined why his fighter is being put forward as a credible opponent.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Brandon Moore is the reigning USBA Heavyweight Champion and is coming off three straight victories over previously undefeated fighters.

“He’s a legitimate American heavyweight, 6’6” tall, 240 to 250lbs, big, strong and continuing to improve.

“From a physical standpoint, he reflects the modern heavyweight profile associated with Anthony Joshua while very much being his own fighter.”

Moore, who holds a record of 19 wins with 10 knockouts and one defeat, has been positioned as a test for Fury as negotiations are explored.

Salita said: “This is someone who wants to test himself at the highest level, and facing Tyson Fury represents exactly that.”

Fury has yet to confirm a date or venue for his comeback, but has revealed plans to weigh under 19 stone for what would be his 38th professional bout.

The former WBC heavyweight champion has been posting daily training updates after confirming he intends to resume his career.

Posting on Instagram, Fury said: “This is the stuff that people don’t see. Behind the scenes, the hard graft. The hard work that goes into fights, camps, life. It’s not all glitz and glamour.

“Like Muhammad Ali said, the winning and losing is done long before you enter that ring. Winning is done in silence. Hard work is done in silence.”

Fury has also been clear that his comeback is driven by passion rather than money.

Speaking in a video shared on social media, he said: “I have literally won everything from regional belts in England to super world titles … for me there is nothing else other than the fight game.

“It’s not about the money, although I always want a good deal for sure. It’s mainly about the love of the fight game and the sport.”

The Brit has returned to full training and has been sparring heavyweight Kevin Lerena as he builds towards what he has promised will be the “biggest and best event” of its era.

Potential opponents continue to be discussed, including Anthony Joshua, 36, Fabio Wardley, 31, and even a possible Usyk trilogy.
