Bubba Watson eyes record-breaking Masters win

Bubba Watson wants to be the oldest person to win the Masters.

The 47-year-old golfer believes he has what it takes to claim victory at Augusta National for the third time next month and is excited at the thought of breaking a record previously set by legend of the game Jack Nicklaus.

Asked if he still has what it takes to win, he told bunkered magazine: “Oh 100%.

“I always look at it and think about being the oldest Masters champion.

“I think it was Jack Yea, in 1986, he was 46.

“I would love to have that title of the oldest champion.”

While players often see a decline in their abilities as they get older, Bubba still thinks he can battle out a victory because he knows it doesn’t just rely on talent alone.

He said “I still believe I hit it far enough. I putt well enough.

“It’s just about getting the breaks or the other guys to struggle a little bit.

“That’s how you win golf tournaments, right?

“You can do your best, but if the other guys are doing better, there’s nothing you can do about it.

“So, you just need some things to go your way. Doesn’t matter your age. You still need things to go your way.”
