The VfL Bochum manager has experience in both the English and German leagues and thinks his fellow countryman was a great appointment as England boss.
He said: “I’m a big fan of Thomas Tuchel…
“When the FA hired him, they wanted someone who could take the side further than Southgate.
“You can see that in qualifying, they have not lost.
“The appointment of a foreigner to the England job is a big ask, maybe it is the hardest job of all, but Thomas has a big track record.
“He will find it very interesting to manage such a talented pool of players.
“He has the authority and grabs the bull by the horns but, if anyone can make it, then it’s Thomas. I wish him the best with it.”
The former Manchester City ace praised the work Tuchel previously did at Chelsea.
He said: “I saw what he did with Chelsea in the space of two weeks after he took over from Frank Lampard.
“He completely changed the shape and playing philosophy and made them vastly more competitive.
“That was a transformation.
“I thought it was not possible to have such an impact on a team in such a short space of time.
“I think his success with Chelsea, including winning the Champions League, showed what he could do in England.”
