Valdes' challenge nasty - Howe

The Boro keeper escaped any sanction at all after he crashed into King with his knee when the pair were jumping for a ball in the Boro area but former Premier referee Dermott Gallagher, speaking on Sky, claimed that ref Stuart Attwell should have awarded the Cherries a penalty and sent the keeper off.

Howe was unsure about the penalty call but new it was a worrying challenge.

He told the Echo: "I'm not sure (if it was a penalty), it looked a nasty one. The main thing was that Joshua got up and was able to continue.

"It did look like he could be concussed or that there could be some damage there.

"I thought Joshua had a couple of really good moments in the game and did well, so I was just pleased to see him back on his feet."
