Hoops eye Royals ace Liam Moore

Celtic are being linked with a January transfer window swoop to sign Reading's £5million-rated defender Liam Moore.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to bring in some defensive cover in the new year, having been without injury-hit duo Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic in the first half of the campaign.

And it seems he has set his sights on Moore, who is able to play anywhere across the backline and has scored two goals in 15 Championship matches for the Royals so far this season.

Reading boss Jaap Stam will be reluctant to sell one of his key men in January, especially with last season's play-off finalists currently struggling down in 18th position this term.

But, if Celtic agree to pay £5million it could be too good to turn down, while Moore would no doubt be keen to move to Parkhead, where he would be fighting for the Scottish Premiership title and almost certainly experience Europa League football in the second half of the season.
