Opeti Fonua agrees Falcons exit

Newcastle Falcons have confirmed that back-rower Opeti Fonua has agreed a move to former club Agen.

The 31-year-old joined Newcastle in 2016 from Leicester Tigers, having also spent time with London Welsh and Bayonne.

The Tonga international, who was part of their 2015 World Cup squad, made 13 appearances for Newcastle but he has opted to head back to France.

Fonua began his professional career with Agen in 2005 and enjoyed two stints with the club spanning over seven years.

Falcons' director of rugby Dean Richards said: "I would like to thank Opeti for all his hard work during his time with us and wish him all the best for his move to Agen."
