Wenger plans Walcott stay

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he wants to keep hold of Theo Walcott amid reports Southampton are interested.

Walcott has managed just five Premier League appearances for the Gunners this season, none of which have been starts, and it has been suggested he may be tempted by a move away in order to try and secure a place in England's World Cup squad.

Southampton, where Walcott began his career, have been credited with an interested and it has been claimed Arsenal have set a £30million asking price but Wenger says he wants to keep hold of the 28-year-old, who is under contract until the summer of 2019.

"I want him to stay," Wenger told a press conference.

When asked about Southampton's interest, Wenger said: "I heard about that but I want him to stay."
