Ryan Elias handed Wales call

Ryan Elias has been called up to Wales' Six Nations squad after Scott Baldwin was forced to withdraw because of a foot injury.

The 23-year-old Scarlets hooker, whose two previous caps for Wales came in their 2017 tour matches against Tonga and Samoa, was given the nod by coach Warren Gatland when it was confirmed that the problem Baldwin suffered in training would force him on the sidelines.

The 29-year-old Ospreys hooker was released from the 22-man squad for Saturday's Six Nations opener against Scotland at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

It's been revealed that Baldwin now faces surgery on the foot injury and is set for up to five months on the sidelines which means he will miss the entire Six Nations.
