Leon Britton back in reckoning for Swans

Leon Britton could make his first appearance for Swansea under Carlos Carvalhal against Brighton after returning to training this week.

The 35-year-old midfielder has not featured for the senior team since the loss to Leicester back in October, partly due to him stepping in to take charge of the Swans temporarily while the club searched for a successor to Paul Clement.

The veteran midfielder has since been undergoing treatment on a hip problem and has now received an injection which has led to him returning to training in the build-up to Saturday's big game against Brighton.

Britton, who was offered the chance to take up a full-time coaching position when Carvalhal was appointed manager in December, only to turn it down to focus on his playing career, is now hoping to force his way into the Portuguese's plans.

Britton's return is a welcome boost for Carvalhal after he recently lost fellow midfielders Leroy Fer and Renato Sanches to injury.
