No need to rush Mauro Icardi negotiations, says Piero Ausilio

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio says there is 'no deadline' set for opening contract talks with Mauro Icardi.

Icardi, who joined the Italian outfit in 2013 from Sampdoria, currently serves as captain and his performances this season have warranted the armband, with the forward scoring 24 goals from 26 Serie A appearances, already matching his tally from the previous campaign.

The Argentina international, who is hopeful of making his country's 2018 World Cup squad for the major event in Russia this summer, is contracted to the Nerazzurri until June 2021.

Several top European teams are said to be weighing up summer offers for the 25-year-old and this has led to reports claiming Inter will start negotiations over an improved contract.

However, when asked about Icardi's situation, Ausilio was relaxed and says there is no rush to open talks.

"There's no deadline - everything with Mauro is so spontaneous that it could happen tomorrow the same way it could happen at the end of the season," he told Premium Sport.

"It will be a very standard process.

"He might be getting a bigger [house]. He's happy here and his family have a good life in Milan.

"Inter have always shown him gratitude - it wouldn't be a surprise if we started discussing a renewal, it would already be the fourth time."
