Kimmich ready for World Cup

Joshua Kimmich wants to enjoy a solid World Cup with Germany to atone for what he feels was a disappointing season at Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old picked up a third consecutive Bundesliga winner's medal at the end of the campaign but it seems as though it is not enough for the former RB Leipzig man.

He highlighted the fact the Bavarians failed to make it to the final of the Champions League and were dumped out of the DFB-Pokal by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kimmich will now line up with his Germany team-mates in Russia as they seek to defend their title and the versatile star wants to put some gloss on a season that could have gone better for both player and club.

'I see this World Cup as an opportunity to make a disappointing season into a highlight for me,' he told magazine kicker. 'I'll go there with the intention of being one the best players at the tournament.

'We've got the right mix of young and old, and the desire. The best-case scenario is we win it.'
