It appeared as though the 24-year-old would sign up with the Reds at the start of the transfer window, with a £53m deal agreed between the clubs but problems over the player's medical ended negotiations.
Fekir himself has now dismissed any concerns about his fitness and it seems as though the deal is not dead in the water just yet.
The player's representative, Jean-Pierre Bernes, was coy about the reasons why the move failed to go through but hinted that there is still some life in the transfer.
"Well he didn't sign because well...it is not over," he told FourFourTwo. "This is not the end of the story. We now wait for what happens next."
