The Spurs star has been an ever-present in the Premier League so far this season, impressing in the 3-0 win at Manchester United, but was dropped from the line-up to accommodate the returning Heung-min Son at the San Siro on Tuesday.
Lucas, who came on in the second half and looked sharp, accepted the decision of Mauricio Pochettino with good grace when he was asked about it after the final whistle.
He told canal Esporte Interativo: "I know my time will come and I will continue working, fighting game by game and maintaining fitness, which is the most important. I'm sure that at the right time the call will come."
The 26-year-old was also asked about a possible return to the national team, who he has not represented since Brazil flopped badly under former coach Dunga at the Copa America two years ago.
"I think everything has its time, I have to be very patient," he added. "But I cannot deny that I think about returning to the selection. It's the big goal that I have."
