Sony launches new wearable air conditioner

Sony is launching a new wearable air conditioner.

It looks like something out of Frank Herbert's 'Dune', but the new Reon Pocket 5 thermo device could be a gamechanger for people around the world as it cools or warms your body depending on the environment you're in.

Making use of a 'thermos module' and five sensors - three of temperature and one each for humidity and motion - the device can determine optimal body temperature to keep you comfortable.

As reported by TechRadar, the five levels of cooling and fourth levels of warmth means it should be useful in a range of scenarios.

If users also sport the Reon Pocket Tag, the device can sense outside conditions, meaning it can automatically pre-empt changes in body temperature.

Even without this accessory, it still works automatically, but it would react to the changes rather than predicting them.

There is also the possibility of a manual control, using the REon Pocket App on iOS or Android handsets.

The new device is available to pre-order from Sony's website for £139 ahead of a May 15 shipping date, and the pack includes the device, a pocket tag and a white neckband.
