The prominent figure - who has been involved in the display industry for 30 years - has become a Fellow of the Society for Information Display (SID).
Each year, SID selects "only the top 0.1 per cent" of its members with "outstanding research achievements" as Fellows, based on "recommendations" from previously appointed Fellows and a "rigorous" committee review.
And once appointed, SID Fellows have the title for life.
Kim's notable credits include leading the opening of electric and premium automotive display markets with Automotive P-OLED, as well as introducing foldable technology to displays bigger than 13 inches.
SID said of his appointment: "He was the first in the world to commercialize P-OLED for automotive displays using a Tandem structure, and he made significant contributions to the advancement of display technology by developing and popularizing high-performance IT displays such as foldables and In-Cell Touch."
