According to a supposed image of the Pixel 10 uploaded to social media by reliable leaker Evan Blass, Google is looking to incorporate the charging technology into its upcoming handsets.
The picture seemingly shows a Pixel 10 with what appears to be a magnetic charging puck attached to the back.
If accurate, the move would make Google’s next flagship the first Pixel phone to fully adopt the Qi2 standard, which promises faster charging speeds and improved alignment thanks to magnetic connectors similar to Apple’s MagSafe technology.
The Pixel 10 is also rumoured to introduce a new feature called PixelSnap, which will supposedly enhance the user experience by providing a stronger magnetic attachment for compatible accessories and chargers.
This could make wireless charging more efficient and less prone to disconnections, addressing one of the main frustrations users have with standard wireless charging pads.
While Google has not confirmed these details, it’s been claimed that the company is planning to launch the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro later this year, potentially alongside its Pixel Watch 3.
The adoption of Qi2 would place Google in line with other major smartphone manufacturers, as the Wireless Power Consortium has been encouraging broader use of the standard across devices.
If the rumours are true, the Qi2 and PixelSnap combination could open up a new ecosystem of magnetic accessories, including wallets, stands, and car mounts, giving Pixel users a feature set that competes more directly with Apple’s MagSafe lineup.
Other reports suggest the Pixel 10 series will also feature upgrades to its camera system and battery life, with rumours pointing to a redesigned camera bar and enhanced AI photography tools powered by the latest version of Google’s G5 Tensor processor.
Google is expected to reveal more details about the Pixel 10 range next month, with a launch set for August 20, 2025.
