Xbox gives fans free Series X25 consoles

Microsoft is giving away free Xbox Series X25 limited edition consoles.

During Sunday's (07.06.26) Xbox Games Showcase event, new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma addressed the fans on stage for the first time, and ended the evening on a special note for those in attendance following the live stream.

She said: "I've been waiting for this moment since day one. I couldn't think of a better way to end my first 100 days than with all of you.

"Thank you for coming, thank you for having me in this industry. It was been an honour, it has been a joy, it has been a wild ride and I know we've just getting stared here.

"First, let's acknowledge all of the great games. Congratulations to Matt, all our studios, our partners.

"These are games that are gonna change people's lives, they're gonna form memories, stories, characters for the next decade and I can't wait to play them all.

"How about those exclusives? And how do you feel about the green 25th anniversary [console]?

"Well, this is my first Showcase. I know so many of you have been here with us for the last 25 years.

"So, if you look down and you have fan on your badge, you'll be getting one for free later this year."

The special Xbox, which is meant to pay tribute to the original 2001 console, swaps the black exterior panels for a translucent green plastic, which lets gamers see the inside of the console.

There is also a matching controller, with both items going on sale later this year, although a price is yet to be revealed ahead of the November 2026 launch.

The Games Showcase event as a hole includes launch dates for games like Gear of War: E-Day and Halo: Campaign Evolved, plus trailers for Clockwork Revolution and Fable.

Meanwhile, the company confirmed that Clockwork Revolution and Gears of War: E-Day will both of Xbox console exclusives.
