The technology giant has revealed it will no longer make reference to the issue with its ads prior to the vote, which is scheduled to take place on May 25.
Facebook, for its part, has already taken the decision to ban such commercials on its platform - and Google now plans to follow suit.
In a statement, the company - which also owns the video-sharing platform YouTube - explained: "Following our update around election integrity efforts globally, we have decided to pause all ads related to the Irish referendum on the Eighth Amendment."
Meanwhile, Google has also recently launched its digital wallet.
The world-famous tech firm is trying to keep up with its competitor Apple by releasing an update that will allow users to stash their digital tickets for travel - such as boarding passes - and entertainment events to Google Pay.
Google has collaborated with Urban Airship "to create streamlined and engaging ticketing and boarding pass experiences," according to The Verge.
