The firm has decided not to release the hardware device as it was not up to their "high standards".
Dan Riccio, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, told TechCrunch: "After much effort, we've concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project.
We apologise to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward."
The matt was designed to charge the iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch at the same time and was originally announced back in September 2017.
